Tradepost - Jaybarkerfan's Junk

Time for another trade post.  I am almost caught up on the trades I have scanned but in looking at my desk I have a nice stack of new trades to get scanned up.  It is a great problem to have with so many great traders/bloggers out there.

Last month I blogged about an awesome package sent by the most generous blogger out there, Wes of Jaybarkerfan's Junk.  I actually think this trade package came in before that box of goodness arrived.  As usual I got some great Giants for my collection including some really amazing cards.

First up are a couple parallels.  The Pill was the last Target parallel I needed to finish the team set - very nice.  The Cain is an Xfractor of my favorite current Giant - two great pick ups.

This Willie Mays card is pretty cool.  It is very thick and metal and the border has a lip that goes downward, it sort of seems like it would be a lid to some container.  I haven't tried to get it into a binder page yet so it may end up residing with my hits in a top loader and box, we will have to see.

Speaking of hits, this Moises Alou bat card is a great addition to my collection.  I really enjoy bat cards and it seems there are fewer in newer products in favor of jersey swatches.  This card looks really nice, the way the background fades into the edges of the card with the nice Giants colored pin striping.  Beautiful card.

Another great looking bat card of Japanese sensation Tsoyoshi Shinjo.  This is from Topps Pristine set and I already had the Jeff Kent from this insert set.  There is a Barry Bonds in the set as well and I might need to track it down to complete the team set.

The final card in the trade pack is by far my favorite.  This is one of my favorite insert sets of all time. In fact the Autographed McCovey versions was the subject of my first ever McCovey Monday post.  I have thought about putting together this set a couple of different times but have never jumped in.  I am so glad to have this as part of my collection. Thanks again Wes for a great trade package!!!

  2. That Mays is sweet -- surprisingly, it came from a 5-card set issued for AVON! Everyone was issuing baseball cards in the 1990s.
