Some Recent Ronnie Lott Pick Ups

My favorite football player of all time is Ronnie Lott.  He played on the great 49er teams of my youth, earning 4 Super Bowl rings.  He starred as an All-American at my school, USC.  I had a chance to meet him once and he was a great guy.  He was also one of my first player collections, it all started with Willie McCovey, then Rickey Henderson and finally Ronnie Lott.

Much of my collecting focus has shifted to baseball over the past couple of years and what was once a pretty complete player collection (there is one guy out there who seems to scoop up all the super rare cards regardless of price) started to have some big gaps.  I picked up a couple singles at my LCS and on eBay but really decided to address this during Black Friday. I figured it was a good time to show off all my new pick ups.

Here are some cards from Topps.  The first two are from 2014 Topps Fire - I really like the look of these cards.  The one on the left is an unnumbered red parallel while the green on on the right is numbered 37/99.  The Topps Legends card is from 2011 and is a bronze parallel 226/299.  The bottom 2 cards are from 2011 Topps.  I believe these are from some type of online redemption contest if I recall.  Ronnie has 1 card for each of his 4 Super Bowl teams and I now have 3 of the 4.

Here are some cards from Topps Museum Collection.  The first card is the bronze parallel from 2013 while the others are from 2014.  The bronze 2014 is unnumbered while the blue is 06/99 and the red 23/50.
Next up are some cards from some various Upper Deck releases.  I really enjoy seeing cards of Lott in his USC uniform, perhaps the only upside to the spot Upper Deck finds itself in for licensing.  The 2013 Quantum card is on very thick stock and is a serial numbered base card to 58/65.  The 2013Ultimate Collection card is on a nice thick stock but is perhaps 1/3 to 1/4 the thickness of the Quantum card.  It is numbered 142/175.  The 2013 SP Authentic is a short printed base card and then I picked up a green mini and a canvas mini from 2013 Goodwin Champions.  The canvas cards are short printed to 99 but not numbered.

These are cards from Panini releases. The 2012 Prime Signatures base card is on nice thick stock and is numbered 367/499.  I really like the Flair Showcase Legacy Collection Row 0 insert from 2012 Fleer Retro.  It is based on a 1990s Flair card and is numbered 43/100.  The 2011 Absolute NFL Icons card is an insert numbered 032/100.

The final group from this recent spending spree comes from National Treasures.  Lott is rightfully labeled a Legend in both the 2013 and 2014 releases.  In 2013 he was only included as a 49er and I picked up the base 37/50 and the silver parallel 10/25.  In 2014 he was included in the set as both a 49er and Raider.  I still need to track down a 49er base card, the Raiders is below and numbered 11/99.  I was able to pick up the 49er Century Silver parallel 02/25 and the Century Gold 03/10.  Finally on the middle bottom of the scan I have a nice looking 2 color relic swatch numbered 09/25.

I am really glad I was able to reignite my Lott collection with all these great cards.   I need to make sure his collection doesn't go dormant moving forward, his cards bring back great memories of championship 49er teams.
