Trade Post - Dime Boxes

One of my favorite bloggers, Nick at Dime Boxes, sent me a nice package of cards.  Nick consistently produces interesting and well written blog posts and I look forward to a daily read.  I have to say that I am super jealous of the card shows in his area.  Not only do I not see Dime Boxes at card shows, there just aren't card shows in Southern California.  Lucky for me Nick will shoot me some great cards every so often.

This is a quartet of Opening Day cards. Every year I buy a box and I have one in reserve for 2015 already.  Usually I get close to a set and am impressed enough with the inserts to try and go after all of them.  Nick filled some of the Giants gaps for the Giants binder with these cards.  I have finished off the Giants want list but still have a few of the super hard to find Between Innings inserts.

Here are some other great cards.  Pretty interesting that Donruss and Topps used the same photo of Monte Irvin.  The number of parallels in that 2005 Diamond Kings set is mind numbing.  I am a big fine of the Topps Pristine cards with their similar to 1965 Topps design. The full body picture of Irvin fits great with this card.  Nick also sent a nice oddball of the HR King and a great Gypsy Queen insert of one of my favorite Giants - he is on the comeback trail and hopefully poised for a bounce back 2015 season.

The last 2 cards are these oddballs of 1960s era stars Matty Alou and Juan Marichal.  These were produced in 1986 by Sports Design Products.  I really don't know much about the history behind this release but really like the design and photo selection. Even though they are posed photos, the backgrounds and facial expressions make for great cards.

Thanks Nick for another great group of cards!
