McCovey Monday #82 - 2002 Absolute Memorabilia Signing Bonus X2

My favorite player of all time is Hall of Famer Willie McCovey.  I have amassed a collection of over 1200 different  McCovey cards since I started collecting him in the late 1980s.  I will show off one of my favorite cards every Monday.  Stretch was one of the most feared hitters of all time and I am excited to show off my collection.

Sunday I had a little time to spend in my hobby room.  I decided to work on putting together a couple of trade packages - I am way behind.  I had also recently gotten an email from a reader looking to see if I had a specific card he was looking for that was similar to some cards I had posted a couple years back that a fellow blogger had sent.  I did some searching through all my unorganized stuff looking for the card with no luck but I did run across these two awesome items from my Willie McCovey collection.

These are 2002 Playoff Absolute Signing Bonus framed items.  They were sold one per box with a SRP of $40/box.  They measure 8" X 10" and are framed to be hung up on a wall or displayed on a desk.  The checklist is great and there are 312 different ones, including color variations, with some showcasing cut signatures of deceased player.

I really enjoy both of these McCoveys.  Both the grey and white backgrounds look great and his historic #44 is prominently showcased along with an American flag.  The shiny silver sticker autos stand out well and you can see numbered in the bottom right corner. I have no idea why one was numbered to 190 and the other to 250 but I am glad Willie didn't have any super short printed versions and I was able to get both.

A house or two back I had these hung up on the wall to display them but they didn't make it up in my current home.  That may have to change in the near future, they look great and celebrate my favorite player.

  1. I had a few of those ones that just featured a jersey piece. Those McCovey's are great!

  2. I have the Schmidt from this set (I do like it) but after seeing these beautiful Willie Macs I'm concerned that there may be a photo variation that I'm missing!
