My favorite player of all time is Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. I
have amassed a collection of over 1200 different McCovey cards since I
started collecting him in the late 1980s. I will show off one of my
favorite cards every Monday. Stretch was one of the most feared hitters
of all time and I am excited to show off my collection.
A couple months back I set up a daily reminder on eBay for any Willie McCovey cards from Museum Collection. I was looking for a 2013 emerald base parallel to finish off my McCovey rainbow. I never dismantled the reminder and have been seeing all the new cards that get posted each day. I was shocked when I saw this beauty pop up for $14.95 Buy It Now with Free Shipping and immediately pulled the trigger:
There are 3 different McCoveys in this set, each with a different photo. This is my second different one (I still need to show off the first) but the other is numbered to 25 and cost more. As you can probably see this is the gold version numbered 03/10. I just love these large chunks of bat that they put in these cards. Based on the uniform, this looks like a uniform from pretty late in his career - right around the time I remember seeing him play.
I think I am going to keep the reminder in tact for a while to see if some other great deals like this pop up.
