McCovey Monday #21 - 2012 Gypsy Queen Printing Plate

My favorite player of all time is Hall of Famer Willie McCovey.  I have amassed a collection of over 1100 different  McCovey cards since I started collecting him in the late 1980s.  I will show off one of my favorite cards every Monday.  Stretch was one of the most feared hitters of all time and I am excited to show off my collection.

My purchasing of new McCovey cards has slowed, not too many I need hitting the market.  Triple Threads may change that but they are going for way too much in the first week or two after their release. I am hoping my patience pays off, there are a couple really cool cards I want to pick up.

This is a 2012 purchase of a printing plate from 2012 Gypsy Queen - it is the Cyan version.  I now have a printing plate of McCovey's base card, mini and his Moonshots insert, a pretty cool trifecta.  While I will keep my eyes open for some of the other plates, I am very content having one of each.

I know a lot of people aren't fans of printing plates but I kind of like them.  I have pulled a few in my day, the best being a League Leaders card featuring Tim Lincecum that I traded away before I got fully into my Giants collection.  One of the few regrets I have with regards to trading.  I can't remember what I got in return but at the time I was very excited.

Time to dip into the older McCovey releases for upcoming McCovey Monday features - I am looking forward to it!
